Transitioning to Summer

As we transition into summer work/vacation mode, we have started a new series. Ken Burns' Jazz. I never saw all of the episodes when it aired on PBS and it goes nicely with all the jazz drumming Ryan has been doing lately.

So much is blossoming and blooming in the garden, yard, and around the city.

These carrot cake cookies are made with no oil, butter or eggs. Luckily there was plenty of frosting.

We said goodbye to one of our favorite young families as they are heading south for a new life in Berkeley.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Our sweet little backyard container garden is starting to flourish. I've already harvested a big batch of arugula and other lettuces and basil. Flowers are forming on the tomatoes, but the strawberries are on the sad side. This year was my first attempt at peas and we have a few pods so far. With all the sun we have had the garden looks like it has grown from the time I leave in the morning until I get back in the late afternoon.
